Our client has distinguished itself with a unique range of truly innovative fire-fighting training and fire simulation products that are developed, tested and manufactured in house.  They specialize in the design and construction of complete training units, from mobile fire fighting containers and trailers, to full-scale structures and training complexes. These training centers can now be found worldwide.  Fire brigades, industrial safety officers, and safety training companies have come to trust our client for reliability and expertise.

 

Having recently acquired this company, the group wishes to install new leadership to expand the firm globally.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone to take on a global leadership role with a market leader in its segment.

 

Position Description

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, based in the USA, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the direction and management for the business unit’s sales and business development strategy and operations including: custom build operations, R&D, product management, customer service, sales, pricing, compensation, P&L and distribution and channel strategy.

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

 

Ensure sales and earnings targets are met year over year.

 

Participate in strategic planning and implement strategic goals and objectives.

 

Implement programs that include marketing, sales, purchasing, distribution, accounting/finance, safety, customer service and product management.

 

Take on primary responsibility for efficient, cost-effective facility operations.

 

Prepare budget and sales forecasts with senior leadership team.

 

Approve wage, bonus and commission schedules in line with budget and operating constraints.

 

Approve, within budgetary and corporate guidelines, expenditures for capital equipment.

 

Manage the day-to-day activities of the facility, overseeing that work is accomplished by the managers and supervisors, and that it is consistent with corporate policies and objectives.

 

Oversee that the inventory management is consistent with sales, cash flow and financial goals.

 

Serve as the principal public relations spokesperson for the facility.

 

Assess and ensure that you have the right staff in the right roles.

 

Oversee that the facility staff develop and implement professional developmental plans for the employees, their supervisors and managers.

 

Keep up with the industry trends, attend trade shows, conventions and seminars as appropriate or as directed.

 

Manage overall sales policies and process, set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management while maintaining a common culture and drive for strong customer intimacy and relationships. Participate in strategic sales calls with key strategic deals and end users.

 

Maintain and build a culture of continuous improvement, process, accountability and growth.

 

Responsible for building corporate growth strategies demonstrating organic growth through gaining market share in a mature market.

 

Work closely with Marketing to develop, establish, and direct channel and distribution strategies and programs.

 

Oversee and manage major activities and day-to-day operations to ensure product management, product development, R&D, and cost effective management of resources in compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations.

 

Establishes and maintains an annual business and financial plan controlling the P&L while advancing company objectives, promoting long-term sustainable growth for revenue and profitability for the organization while managing the cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism, to meet operating needs.

 

Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.

 

Responsible for R&D roadmap; delivering game-changing innovation in each product category.

 

Responsible for strategic sourcing including maintaining key raw material relationships.

Advanced-level abilities to present to executive levels. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people and organizations with the interpersonal skills to speak positively to ensure provision of solutions, services and products that have value to their customer.

 

Experience in strategic and long range planning, performing competitive investigations and strategic analysis of industry capabilities, introduction of new programs/strategies with the ability to make recommendations that determine new product selection and strategy for market introduction.

 

Ability and past experience establishing goals and requirements that reflects the organization’s objectives and values with proven ability to partner with executive staff in developing, enhancing, and communicating strategies while identifying key issues and providing a commitment to action.

 

Proven ability to articulate business benefits of growth initiatives and gain acceptance and approval for these initiatives at the executive level and throughout the organization. Demonstrated experience with developing transition roadmaps introducing new markets, customers and product lines.

 

Ability to coordinate, monitor operating cost and expense budgets. Experience analyzing sales metrics, managing cash flow and establishing controls to safeguard funds.  Experience reviewing income and cost relative to the goals.

 

Demonstrates a high degree of commitment to the company and its objectives constantly motivated with a desire to learn and continue to develop professionally. High learning agility, constantly engaged in learning activities to improve their own performance. Maintains the highest level of personal and professional ethics.

Past experience in sales and marketing with solid business development skills, critical thinking skills, analytical and sales experience that impacts client/customer relationships, resolving issues across multiple locations and businesses with a client retention focus.

 

Candidate Profile

 

Work Experience & Abilities Required:

 

10+ years of experience within a comparable industry with 5 years plus in a senior management position managing a P&L.

 

Experienced leader with applicable global construction, executive level project management or safety regulated industry experience.

 

Strong business acumen, operational experience and experience with effective profit and loss management.

 

Broad leadership background with expertise in sales, construction on a global scale, marketing, product management, strategic planning and execution, and effective personnel management.

 

Entrepreneurial thinker, change agent visionary with the ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.

 

Proven international business experience with the ability to recognize global implications.

 

Outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability build relationships.

 

Monitor employee behavior, provide direction and coach and develop the team. Gain buy in and motive team toward achievements and company vision.

 

Manage disagreements and takes corrective action promptly when organization faces disturbances.

 

Experience monitoring marketplace to identify business opportunities.

 

Demonstrated understanding and application of effective selling strategies and techniques.

 

Proven history developing and implementing incentive plans to increase sales and improve profitability.

 

Demonstrated success managing inventory, including auditing, forecasting and planning.

 

Education:

 

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.

 

Language Abilities:

 

Fluent in both spoken and written English.
