Our client is a world leading international manufacturer and distributor of a wide range of stainless and specialty alloys, tool steels, and titanium alloys for niche applications in the automotive, aerospace, consumer products, energy, defence, industrial and medical markets.

 

As a world leader, our client continues to expand their established, stable and successful business in China with the recent announcement that they will be investing a further $20M into a new manufacturing facility to meet the rapid growth and increasing demand for their products by their customers in Asia.

 

Position Description

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

 

Manage the activities of Changshu Manufacturing facility, consisting of more than one major operational unit, with consideration for the goals and objectives of the organization.  Develops goals and objectives for the facility that are aligned with those of Manufacturing.

 

Develop, define and lead the implementation of plans, actions, and measurements to meet facility goals.

 

Measure and evaluate execution of the plans and make appropriate adjustments to meet the aligned goals and objectives.

 

Maintain knowledge of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems and process control techniques.

 

Define and communicate performance expectations for salaried staff and coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities.

 

Develop and be responsible for managing facility budget.

 

Provide leadership to managers; may also manage first-level supervisors and/or professional staff.

 

Develop departmental plans including business, production and/or organizational priorities.

 

Make decisions guided by resource availability and department/function objectives.

 

Ensures a safe workplace and promotes ways to improve the quality of life and protect the environment in the communities in which the Company does business.

 

Accountable for the performance and results of one or more areas or departments.

 

Candidate Profile

 

Work Experience & Abilities Required:

 

Two or more years experience at a lower level manager position or Manufacturing Engineer position.

 

Applies business and management expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives within or across areas or departments.

 

Has multi-disciplinary knowledge across the areas or departments.

 

Develops area/departmental plans including business, production and/or organizational priorities.

 

Manages resources to ensure financial and operational objectives are met.

 

Knowledge of existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems and process control techniques.

 

Personal Qualifications:

 

Identifies and resolves complex technical, operational and organizational problems.

 

Develops relationships with key customers to identify emerging needs.

 

Decisions are guided by resource availability and department/function objectives.

 

Effectively coaches, gives performance feedback and provides development opportunities within or across areas or departments.

 

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.

 

Ability to evaluate and recommend new equipment, and process and maintenance technologies.

 

Ability to operate a computer workstation and the appropriate software/hardware.

Education:

 

Four year college degree or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.
