Position Description

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

 

Reports to the Senior VP, Asia with 6 direct reports and over 40 staff in Sales & Marketing.

 

Develops, manage and lead the Bioprocess business in China.  It requires development of a vision and a strategy combined with the operational implementation plan.  It also ensures that a high level of quality of service is delivered consistently to customers and business partners.

 

Execution excellence is essential so that plans are implemented as expected.  It also requires intensive global communications with central Sales & Marketing HQ to ensure China continues to be aligned with the worldwide agenda, especially when it comes to new technologies and initiatives.

 

Responsible to motivate the complete Bioprocess Sales & Marketing team to ensure alignment, sales effectiveness and operational excellence.  There will also be a strong focus to develop and expand a dedicated direct sales organization with all associated support functions.

 

This position is an integral part of the Greater China leadership team and has direct P&L responsibility for the local business.

 

Besides direct leadership, the capacity to impact on and influence internal stakeholders within the organisation and & external customers is very important.

 

Having a strong and professional network within the Pharma-Biotech manufacturers of vaccines and antibodies in China is a pre-requisite.

 

Candidate Profile

 

Work Experience & Abilities Required:

 

Knowledge and connections within the Biopharma Manufacturing business in China.

 

Understanding of commercial and technical sides of both the upstream process of growing cells as well as the downstream operations of a biotech manufacturing process is critical.

 

Experience of working within an integrated global business and running a P&L.

 

Strong people management and development experience.

 

Experience of managing and developing a mixed business with a strong focus on consumable and single use business is preferred.

 

High level of intercultural sensitivity and competence.

 

Personal Qualifications:

 

Transparent, accountable with high business acumen to visualize what needs to be implemented in China.

 

Good strategic thinker in business.

 

Capacity to embrace change and make it happen.

 

Strong Leadership capacity with a high degree of self-motivation.

 

High degree of flexibility / problem solving in a dynamic business environment.

 

Ambitious with a focus on implementation.

 

Education:

 

Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline (preferably with an MBA from a reputed institute).

 

Language Abilities:

 

Fluent in both spoken and written English & Mandarin Chinese.
