Our clients’ services increase productivity and extend the life of furnaces in the Coke, Glass, Steel, Petroleum Refining & Chemical Processing, Aluminium/Nonferrous, Foundry and Cement & Mineral Processing Industries.


Position Description


The successful incumbent will assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of Chinese human resource policies, procedures and systems as aligned with the global HR strategy and regulatory requirements, in addition performs HR functions as related to recruiting & selection, compensation and benefits administration and employee relations functions.


Summary of Key Responsibilities:


Support China operations in the development and administration of HR policies and processes.


To be a trusted source for employees, at all levels, to seek advice, assistance.


Upholds and counsels employees and managers regarding PRC labour laws.


Develop, administer and communicate Chinese HR policies, procedures and systems ensuring leadership is educated on management responsibilities.


Recommend and is open to new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of HR function and services provided.


Communicate HR Policies and Procedures ensuring compliance with government regulations and alignment with HR strategy.


Assist in the creation of job descriptions, evaluations.


Perform sourcing, recruiting and selection activities and administration.


Maintain, audit and administer compensation and benefit systems & records; and educate employees.


Orient new employees and perform exit interviews with departing employees.


Provide proactive HR related counselling to employees and leadership with an objective of resolving issues at the earliest possible moment.


Maintains Human Resource Databases and Information Systems.


May participate in establishing performance management criteria and objectives.


Interface with workforce to show support of their work as well as demonstrating support of site management.   Routine site visits may be required.


Observes good housekeeping and safety habits, and follows company policies and procedures.  Performs other duties as assigned.


Candidate Profile


Work Experience & Abilities Required:


Five to seven years of human resources, union relations experience with some exposure to global market.


Knowledge of employment/labor related regulations and risks (China).


Good written & verbal communication skills to effectively listen, understand, educate and respond to internal customers and external suppliers.


Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to facilitate problem resolution, positive attitudes and relationships (must be viewed as an open, neutral and objective source of information and guidance).


Self motivated with ability to recommend policies and strategies; and to: independently plan, organize and execute work as needed to accomplish objectives.


Good administrative details with ability to organize, produce, retrieve, and distribute documents with a minimum of errors.


Planning/organizing – prioritizes and plans own and staff’s work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.


Analytical and problem-solving skills – can gather and analyze complex or diverse information and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.


Judgment – display willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions.


Self-motivated with the ability to plan, organize and execute work as needed to accomplish objectives.


Able to collaborate and work effectively as part of a larger global team.


Proficient in computer programs such as MS Office and others related to the industry.




Bachelor Degree in a related field such as human resources or equivalent experience/professional development.


Language Abilities:


Full (ability to write, read and speak) command of English language is strongly preferred.
