In Asia, their main focus is marine products as principally used in the offshore oil and gas industry.  In addition, they serve the mooring, barge, dredge and tug line markets where they are used to tow and secure vessels throughout the world.  Globally, boaters everywhere utilize the company's anchor and dock lines.  Running rigging is available in both recreational and competitive grades and these products are used in many applications, from rescue operations to theatrical productions.  Commercial fishing products include net lines, purse lines, trawl lines, and crab ropes.  Horse enthusiasts use their reins, halters and lead ropes.  In fact, they manufacture over 1,000 different products, many of which come in a wide range of configurations such as twisted, plaited and braided and vary by diameter, color, length, and terminations.   Their technical expertise in cordage has also benefited many other industries beyond those listed above. 
Job Description
Although the Asia market has already been established with a number of key distributors already in place, the company has made the strategic decision to solidify and strengthen its base here with the key hire of a General Sales Manager – Asia Pacific.
Summary of Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of International Sales based in North America, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
 
  • Developing and implementation of tactical sales plans to achieve sales targets, including identifying key target accounts and activities required to achieve account conversion.
  • Performing direct sales activities as necessary and directs the activities of subordinates, if appropriate.
  • Assisting in development of value propositions for markets and products within Asia Pacific.  Providing input for:
    1.  Competitive Situations
    2. Target customers
    3. Customers needs
    4. Regulatory / Political environments
    5. Their competitive advantage
    6. Methods to market
    7. Resource requirements
  • Identifying new products and application requirements and prepare necessary documentation for submission to managers.  Also approving requests from subordinates, if appropriate.
    1. Works with R&D as necessary to ensure clear understanding of new product/projects requirements.
    2. Coordinates necessary product introductions and trials.
    3. Assists in developing of product launch programs, product pricing.
    4. Submits final product requirement for approval prior to beginning formal sales activities.
  • Identifying and recommending new staffing requirements to support strategic sales goals.
  • Recruits, hires and trains new employees as necessary.
  • Counsels, mentors and disciplines subordinates as necessary, including annual performance reviews and salary change recommendations.
  • Working with the marketing department to develop and implement annual marketing plans.
  • Approving set-up of new customers within area.
  • Approving major quotes and submits for management review as appropriate under policy guidelines.
  • Preparing contact and monthly reports as necessary in addition to developing annual sales forecasts.
Work Experience and Abilities Required
  • Some technical background and ability to understand practical applications issues.
  • Ability to perform hands-on product and application troubleshooting in the field.
  • Preferred experience in cordage, wire rope, textile/fiber or other related field.
  • Regular travel required.

Education
Bachelor degree, preferably in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Language Ability

The position compensation will be attractive and negotiable to the right candidate, comprising of a very competitive base salary supplemented by a performance oriented bonus opportunity, benefits and equity/stock participation.
