Job Description
Under the general direction of the Global President and a matrix reporting line to the Executive Vice President, both based in the USA, the successful incumbent will be responsible for planning and executing international development opportunities in the Chinese market.  The Managing Director is responsible for developing a comprehensive sales program to improve gross profit and maximize revenues.  Furthermore, the Managing Director will communicate market data learned through the sales process to the Sr. Management and work in conjunction with existing staff in the USA to complete the due diligence and business plan processes. 
 
This position will be located in China and will require extensive international travel.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Managing Director - China duties shall be:
  • Responsible as part of the team for strategic selling in a long sales cycle involving decisions made at the board of director level.
  • Accountable for developing leads and closing business throughout defined target locations.  Investigates potential business in developing areas, as needed.
  • Participates in overall strategic planning, due diligence processes and business plan development.
  • Responsible for periodically monitoring on-going client relationship management.
  • Attends conferences and symposiums for professional organizations that are relevant to the product lines.
  • Leads proposal development process in the preparation of request for proposals.
  • Works in conjunction with marketing and communication departments in the United States for the creation of marketing materials.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  
Work Experience and Abilities Required
  • 10-15 years of related outside sales or business development experience.
  • Experience participating in business planning, including strategic planning.
  • Prior experience with healthcare business development in China, operations budgets, and medical or technology-related sales required.
Personal Characteristics and Skills
  • Must have excellent written or oral communications skills and be able to interact with all levels of staff cross culturally. 
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related area.
Language Ability
Must be fluent (written and oral) in both English and Mandarin.
Compensation
The position compensation will be attractive and negotiable to the right candidate, comprising of a very competitive base salary supplemented by a performance oriented bonus opportunity and benefits where appropriate.
